About the Ground Water Protection Area (GWPA) Data Source

The GWPA data source includes all the township/range and sections in California that have been determined to be vulnerable to the movement of pesticides to ground water. It also provides information on the vulnerability of a GWPA to certain conditions and management practice options for each condition. Conditions include Leaching, Runoff and Runoff or Leaching (vulnerable to both runoff and leaching conditions).

Permits are required for use of pesticides listed in 3CCR section in GWPAs. Using the GWPA data source and knowing the county/meridian/township/range and section location of the field you want to treat, you will be able to find out whether that field is in a GWPA.
